Labour’s Lawson Armstrong has been victorious in the Chester-le-Street Central Ward by-election.
The full result is as follows:
Lawson Armstrong – Labour – 324 ELECTED
Andrew Gowland - British National Party - 51
Sean Kilkenny - Liberal Democrats - 81
Nick Varley – Conservatives – 89
Voter turn-out: 547 (25.7percent)
The vacancy was created due to the death of Labour Councillor Gordon Kerr.
